INFORMATION FOR AGENCIES / PROJECT HOSTS
For 15 years, local agencies and schools have seen firsthand the benefits of participating in the Foothills United Way Day of Caring. Consider the following benefits to your organization.
- Day of Caring is an opportunity to bring volunteers to your organization who can complete needed projects and provide a variety of valuable skills and talents
- Day of Caring allows you to build relationships that turn one-time volunteers into lifetime supporters, donors and volunteers
- Day of Caring allows you to build new relationships or strengthen existing relationships with the business community
- Day of Caring allows you to showcase your organization and educate community members about the valuable services you provide and the population you serve
Ideas on creating a successful Day of Daring Project
There are many factors for your organization to consider when selecting and organizing your projects. Use the following guidelines to create projects that will engage your volunteers and bring them back for more.
- Pick a project that meets a true need in your organization
- Describe your project in an informative, but creative way
- Impress upon volunteers how important their project is to your organization
- Educate volunteers about your organization
- Make your volunteers feel welcome
- Have at least one staff member support and assist volunteers during their project
- Thank your volunteers
