Thank you for making a difference in our community!

The Volunteer Connection of Foothills United Way was proud to facilitate a service project for Warriors Speak, a program of the Wounded Warriors Project. On May 18, 2016, a beautiful Colorado day, 11 Warriors Speak representatives from around the country planted 25 trees of different varieties (most of them drought-resistant) at the Stazio Ballfields in Boulder, Colorado.

The powerful team worked quickly, shoveling in dirt, raking, making “moats” for the water, mulching, and generally having a great time.

Collectively, the Warriors Speak volunteers gave 39 hours of service that day, worth an estimated $978. The estimated value of volunteer time for     2013 (in Colorado) is $25.10 per hours. (Independent Sector report).

Said City of Boulder Parks and Recreation Project Manager Ken Fisher, “It was probably the best volunteer tree planting I’ve done in the last 20 years!! Anytime you want to come back to plant more trees in Boulder…I’ll be ready for you!!”
